BookMyShow Mobile App Redesign - Case Study
Despite being the market leader, BookMyShow's mobile app suffers from information overload, confusing navigation, hidden pricing, and poor post-booking experience. Our research showed a 35% drop-off rate during seat selection and 28% of users struggling to find booked tickets.
Year :
2025
Industry :
BookMyShow
Project Duration :
48 Hours

Problem
BookMyShow’s existing mobile experience feels feature-heavy and cognitively demanding, especially during critical flows like movie discovery and seat selection.
Users often face visual clutter, unclear hierarchy, and confusion during ticket booking, which can increase drop-offs before payment.
Key issues identified:
Overloaded screens with competing CTAs
Seat selection confusion due to layout and labeling
Important actions placed too low in the screen hierarchy
Lack of clarity between movie details, show timings, and booking actions

Goal :
The goal of this redesign was to create a simpler, more intuitive movie-booking experience that helps users:
Discover movies faster
Select seats with confidence
Complete bookings with minimal friction
Design focus areas:
Clear visual hierarchy
Improved interaction flow
Reduced cognitive load
Mobile-first usability

Solution :
I redesigned key screens of the BookMyShow mobile app with a user-centric and minimalist approach, focusing on clarity and ease of use.
Design improvements include:
Cleaner movie listing with better content prioritization
Improved seat selection layout with clear row/seat indicators
Primary actions repositioned for better thumb reach
Consistent typography, spacing, and color usage
Visual cues to guide users through the booking journey
The redesigned flow ensures users understand where they are, what to do next, and why.
Outcome / Impact
The redesigned experience offers:
Faster decision-making during movie selection
Reduced confusion in seat selection
Smoother transition from browsing to payment
A more modern, accessible, and user-friendly interface
This concept demonstrates my ability to identify usability issues, apply UX principles, and redesign real-world products with business and user goals in mind.
